Project overview

Delivered ahead of DTMR’s Bribie Island Road upgrade, this project involved duplicating a critical trunk water main supplying the entirety of Bribie Island and surrounding suburbs, all without disrupting water supply to more than 5,000 homes.

Sub-contracted by Downer, the principal contractor for the BBT Program, Eastoli coordinated horizontal directional drilling beneath Goong Creek and auger boring directly under the live, high volume roadway, executing all tie-ins as live works using under pressure tapping and line stops rather than shutting down the network.

Protecting the environment

The team worked alongside fauna specialists and arborists to minimise vegetation clearance and installed specialised frog fencing to protect a known habitat within the site’s stormwater swale. Despite unusually heavy rainfall through May and June requiring rapid dewatering measures, the project was delivered with zero safety incidents, zero non-conformance reports and zero public inconvenience reports, while maintaining full traffic flow throughout construction.
