Eastoli has completed a critical water infrastructure upgrade to deliver code-compliant fire protection for the Bribie Island Surf Lifesaving Club. The previous system could not supply enough pressure to meet fire safety codes, so the project delivered a new main capable of a commercial fire flow of 30 litres per second, fully protecting this important community hub.

The works involved installing around 140 metres of new pipe along Rickman Parade in Woorim, connecting into the SLSC car park and passing beneath the First Avenue roundabout and adjacent parkland. By using horizontal directional drilling, the team avoided digging an open trench through the busy roundabout and recreational space, preserving a mature tree near the drilling entry point in the process.

Delivered over the off-season between April and July 2026 as contractor for the Downer-Unitywater BBT programme, the project was completed without any interruption to the public. Live connections were carefully staged and carried out overnight so residents woke up with water flowing as normal.

The result is future-proofed firefighting capability for a much-loved community building, delivered with minimal disruption to the beach and parklands everyone enjoys.
