A new report from the Local Government Association of Queensland has revealed the scale of the challenge facing our state’s water infrastructure. The research found that a pipe breaks somewhere across Queensland roughly every 73 minutes, a trend that has worsened since 2018. The report also found the state’s water infrastructure network is now entering a high-risk age profile, with an average pipe age of 58 years, and more than half the network beyond its typical service life.
For councils and utilities, the message is clear. Reactive repairs are no longer enough. Proactive, well-planned renewal programs are essential to keeping communities connected to safe, reliable water and sewer services, while avoiding the cost, disruption and risk that comes with waiting for infrastructure to fail.
This is exactly where Eastoli’s expertise comes in. Our water main replacement, sewer renewal and rehabilitation programs are designed to get ahead of ageing assets before they become emergencies, minimising disruption to communities while extending the life of critical networks.
As Queensland’s infrastructure continues to age, the case for proactive renewal has never been stronger, and it’s a case we’re proud to be part of.
